Tell Us About Your Business
I specialize in making YOU look good. With a strong foundation in balloon twisting and a “twister mindset,” I bring both creativity and precision to every project. I continually invest in my skills through balloon decorator conventions and workshops, allowing me to offer next-level designs. If you can dream it, I can build it – from custom sculptures to unforgettable installations that elevate your event and your brand.
How long have you been doing this, and how has it evolved over time?
I have been doing balloons since 2008. I started as a street performer—twisting, caricatures, face paint, magician’s assistant, even dabbled in juggling a bit. I started Party Perks in 2014 and originally offered every entertainer service by myself. I attended my first convention, FPBA, a face paint convention in I believe 2016/2017. I went to the morning's class and when we took our break I walked in the hallway and saw Connie Iden-Mondes making a dueling dragon archway out of balloons and my life changed forever. I helped her make that arch and did not attend another face paint class the whole convention. Only balloons and business. I knew I wanted to do THAT—make big cool balloon installations. I immediately went home and started building a team of artists to send out and make commission off of and I started to focus exclusively on the decor. In 2020 I lost most of my team and with the world shut down there were no events for the one I had left. I pivoted to freelancing and have traveled all over the country working with some of the pioneers of the industry as well as current balloon rockstars. Over the last couple years after everything opened back up around me, I have really been investing in building Party Perks again and especially my balloon decor side of things. I do have a team rebuilt for entertainers and now I focus on growth, sustainability, and of course balloon decor.
What’s one project or event you’re especially proud of and why?
I have so many, it's hard to choose. I loved doing the 20ft St Bernards along Joe Mock for Balloon Masters (Chris and Marlene Potts). Joe and I spent 4 days building two different 20ft St Bernard mascots for a local university up in Buffalo, NY. It was so cool to design, scale, produce, and see the end result. One of the dogs, SAINT, had a working keg dispensing beer from a balloon barrel throughout the evening. I'm not a beer drinker, but come on, how cool is that!?
What types of events or clients do you love working with most?
I love getting to do large custom designs for corporate clients that allow me to express my creativity and do something unique.
Where do you get your creative inspiration from?
There are soooooo many amazingly talented balloon artists all around the world that share their art online via many platforms and I will get inspiration from them, as well as from google searches/cartoons/my own experiences and perspectives. There is inspiration everywhere.
What topic would you love to write or speak more about in our industry?
GO, GO, Pause—time management and prioritizing time to pause—schedule off time—schedule reflection time to tally if what you're investing time/energy/money on is bringing in a good ROI.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting out?
Attend in-person events and get active in the balloon community. The relationships you build with established balloon businesses will be the key to your growth. There are an abundance of in-person conventions and workshops and online forums to get involved with. What you measure improves. You have to know your numbers.
What do clients often say they love about working with you?
Being communicative and providing luxury balloons.
What’s your go-to coffee or tea order on install days?
20-ounce sugar-free Redbull.
If your brand were a song, what would it be and why?
"Good Energy" by Audrey Callahan. I am all about good energy, of course. I am so grateful to get to do what I do.
